Hyderabad: The State government on Tuesday directed the District Collectors to appoint special officers to oversee the arrangements and administration of COVID-19 vaccines at each designated launch site where the inoculation drive will begin on January 16. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar asked the Collectors to ensure the presence of pre-identified beneficiaries through a network of district officials.
In a teleconference with all the District Collectors, Somesh Kumar reviewed the preparations for the launch of COVID-19 vaccination programme. The officials were instructed to schedule a smaller number of beneficiaries on the first day and thereafter ramp up the numbers taking into account the experience on the first day.
He sensitised the Collectors about the importance of the programme which in the first phase will cover all healthcare workers both from government as well as private facilities.
The Chief Secretary directed the Collectors to ensure that necessary arrangements are made at the identified launch sites in their respective districts as per Operational Guidelines including measures to deal with any case of adverse effect following immunisation. They were advised to keep reserve vaccinators at each site. He asked them to seek participation of public representatives at all levels.
