A Special Party Commando suffered injuries in an IED explosion in Cherla mandal in Kothagudem district.
Kothagudem: A District Police Special Party Commando engaged in combing operations in Cherla mandal in the district suffered injuries in the explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly planted by the Maoists on Wednesday.
The incident took place in between Battinapalli and Yerrampadu villages in Peddamidisileru reserve forest area on Telangana-Chhattisgarh borders. It was said that the injured Commando, Krishna Prasad suffered leg injury when he accidentally stepped on an anti-personnel land mine (pressure bomb). The incident occurred at around 10 am.

It was said two police teams have ventured into the forests for search operations on the day and one of the teams has become a target for the Maoists. Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Dutt and OSD, V Tirupathi rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
The SP who confirmed the incident in a statement later in the day said injured Commando, who belongs to Laxmidevipalli in the district, was shifted to Hyderabad for treatment and his condition was stable. The combing operations would continue, he added
