Khammam: The two-day special Covid vaccination drive for high risk groups started in erstwhile Khammam on Friday. Around 7, 500 persons in Khammam and 3,000 persons in Kothagudem district have been tagged for the vaccination drive.
It might be noted that the State government has identified fair price shop dealers and workers, LPG dealers and workers, fertilizers-pesticides-seeds dealers and workers along with media persons as high risk groups of Covid-19. In Khammam, as many 24 vaccination centres have been set up for administering Covishield vaccine. District Collector RV Karnan and Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayathi inspected different vaccination centres in Khammam monitoring the vaccination drive.
Speaking to media persons, the Collector said spot registration facility has been provided at the centres for those who have not registered online for vaccination. There would be another round vaccination drive for potential spreaders as per the government orders.
Karnan informed that because of the lockdown imposed by the government and the door to door fever survey there has been a decline in Covid positive cases in the district. Those with mild symptoms were given medical kits.
Kothagudem District Collector, MV Reddy informed that nearly 40 centres have been set up for the vaccination drive across the district. He urged the public, including those vaccinated, to follow Covid guidelines like wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance.
MLA, Vanama Venkateshwar Rao and Additional Collector, Anudeep D have inspected the vaccination centre at Sri Ramachandra High School and interacted with the media persons and health officials.
