Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar directed officials and contracting agencies to speed up ongoing development works in the district on Wednesday.

The Minister, accompanied by SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar, inspected road widening, dividers and central lighting works worth Rs 2 crore taken up in Raghunathapalem mandal with Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) funds.

The Minister instructed the officials to immediately remove electric poles that were obstructing vehicular movement on the roads. He cautioned that if any negligence was found in the works execution, action would be taken against those responsible.

Ajay Kumar, along with Collector RV Karnan and Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi inspected Gollapadu channel modernisation works under progress at Srinivasa Nagar and check dam works at Prakash Nagar.

He wanted the officials to complete four hundred metres long underground pipeline works to be completed by the end of May. Parks have to be developed at Jubileepura and other places where the underground pipeline works were completed.

Minister expresses ire at health officials

Ajay Kumar directed the DM&HO to take action against a medical officer serving at Manchukonda Primary Health Centre (PHC) for failing to follow his duty hours. He made a surprise inspection of the PHHC near Khammam on Wednesday.

During his visit, the minister found a large number of persons waiting for Covid testing and received complaints from them that health officials and personnel at the PHC were not following timings.

He expressed his ire at the local tahsildar and MDO for failing to set up a tent and arrange a drinking water facility at the testing centre. He wanted the health officials to conduct at least 100 Covid tests at each PHC and told the DM&HO to monitor every PHC regularly.
