Khammam: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar has set a deadline of seven weeks for completing the construction of a new RTC bus stand at NSP camp area in Khammam.
The Minister, accompanied by District Collector RV Karnan, inspected the bus stand construction works on Tuesday. “The works have to be completed within the next two months,” he said, adding that he would review the progress every week.
The bus stand being built at a cost of Rs 17.50 crores will consist of a shopping complex and cargo services hall besides parking area, waiting hall and bus platforms. The bus stand would be a modern one with state-of-the-art facilities, he said.
It was planned to relocate the existing RTC bus depot adjacent to the new bus stand for the convenience of the passengers and betterment of services. A new bus depot would also be sanctioned in the city, Ajay Kumar informed.
An integrated vegetable and meat market (Rythu Bazaar) was also being constructed near the bus stand so as to help the farmers. Identity cards would be issued to around 450 farmers to sell the vegetables at the market. The market works should also be expedited to told officials.
Since the market was located near the bus stand it would be of great convenience to the farmers to bring vegetables in Pallevelugu buses to Rythu Bazaar, the minister explained adding that Rs 50 crores have been released under the Chief Minister Special Assurances Funds.
Karnan informed that all the development works were going at fast pace and steps would be taken to complete bus stand works in the next two months. Works related to double bedroom houses, IT Hub, RoB at Dhamsalapuram were at final stages.
Expedite Gollapadu channel works: Ajay Kumar
Ajay Kumar who inspected Gollapadu channel modernisation works stated that nearly 80 per cent works related to laying the main pipeline were over. He further informed that Rs 30 crore sanctioned for the construction of sewerage plant. Around 750 persons evacuated from Gollapadu area were given valuable lands at Velugumatla.
SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar, Mayor G Papalal, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, Additional Collector N Madhusudhan Rao, RTC Chief Civil Engineer Ram Prasad, RM, SVG Krishna Murthy, and others were present.
