Hyderabad: The TGolf Foundation officially announced the launch of the Hyderabad Open, India’s Premier Amateur Golf Championship, to be held from February 17 to 21 at Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club for amateur golfers from across the country to compete on a world-class 18-hole course.

Dr NRN Reddy, president & CEO of TGolf Foundation, described the Hyderabad Open as a historic milestone and a decisive step toward positioning India as a thriving hub for golf tourism.


Madhusudhan Rao, CFO & business head – Emaar India Properties, Rubin Cherian, General Manager – HICC Novotel, Dr Raj P Narayanam, founder & Executive Chairman – Zaggle, were among those who were present at the launch.

The tournament follows stroke-play to maintain professional standards; participants must possess a certified WHS/Club Handicap Index, capped at 18 for men and 24 for women.

Special awards will also be presented for Overall Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, and Closest to the Pin, with a dedicated Hole-in-One prize active throughout.

Hyderabad beats Bengal by 24 runs

A Avanish Rao cracked a century (118, 169b, 13×4, 2×6) and left-arm spinner Nitin Sai Yadav took seven wickets in the match as Hyderabad defeated Bengal by 24 runs in the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy cricket championship match on Monday.

The scores: Hyderabad 384 in 122.1 overs & 219 in 68 overs (A Avanish Rao 118, Vignesh Reddy 40, Ravi Kumar 4/53, Irshad Alam 3/58) bt Bengal 261 in 83.2 overs (Shashank Singh 83, Sumit Nag 30, Pranav Varma 4/86, Nitin Sai Yadav 3/47) & 318 in 79.3 overs (Shashank Singh 145, Sumit Nag 93, Nitin Sai Yadav 3/91).

Hyderabad women lose to Punjab

Punjab scored an eight-wicket win against Hyderabad in the BCCI Senior Women’s one-day cricket championship sixth round match at Ranchi.

The scores: Hyderabad 239/9 in 50 overs (G. Trisha 67, Sandhya Gora 33, K. Nidhi 66, Priyanka 3/29) lost to Punjab 240/2 in 44.5 overs (Ridhima Aggarwal 70, Pragati Singh 85 no, Priya Kumari 55 no).

Easy win for ECIL

ECIL scored an eight-wicket win against Air India in the HCA D-Division Institution one-day league cricket championship here.

The scores: Air India 187/7 in 20 overs (B Radhakrishna 55, Anil L Jeph 52 n.o., B Praveen Kumar 4/50, Tushar K Jadhav 3/25) lost to ECIL 190/2 in 17.2 overs (Vishal Vijay Pawar 88, THS Nookaraju 63).

C-Division football league put off

The TFA C-Division football league matches have been postponed in view of the Chief Minister’s Cup and the Telangana Police meet, according to TFA secretary G Palguna.

The league will resume after February 23.
