Hyderabad: Second-seeded Sasikumar Mukund defeated Rahul Lokesh 6-1, 6-2 in the men’s singles first round of the ITF World Tennis Tour men’s tournament at Jubilee Hills International Centre here on Wednesday.

Mayank, Rushil pair win thriller in Pickle in Pink

In a closely contested final, Mayank Shete and Rushil Gupta defeated Abhishek Yelagani and Gopi Nathiddy in a 2–1 thriller, with scores of 8–11, 11–10, 11-2 in the ‘Pickle in Pink’ charity pickleball tournament at Cross Courts in Gandipet here.

The winners were presented with the trophy by Mallikarjun of the Bollineni Group and Gagandeep Singh, Chairman, SRT 33.

Gagandeep Marwah, spokesperson for SRT 33, said, “Pickle in Pink is where sport meets service. “The overwhelming response reaffirms that every rally played today contributes to building a better future for those in need.”

Hockey: Chandra to lead SBI Hyd Circle

MK Chandra Kumar will lead SBI Hyderabad Circle in the All India SBI inter-circle hockey championship to be held in Bengaluru from January 29 to February 2.

OU women beat Pondicherry University

Osmania University scored a 46-run win against Pondicherry University in the South Zone inter-university women’s cricket tournament in Chennai on Wednesday.
Shivani Goud (72, 55b, 12×4, 3×6) and Sukanya Panda (33, 23b, 4×4) were the lead performers for OU.

Osmania will take on Sri Krishnadevaraya University (Anantapur) on Thursday.

The scores: Osmania University 177/4 in 20 overs (Shivani Goud 72, Sukanya 33, Yalani Senthil 2/28) bt Pondicherry University 131/4 in 20 overs (Abhinaya 48, Raghavika 35 not out).

Hyderabad settled for a draw against Tamil Nadu in the South Zone Inter-state (under-14) cricket championship first round match at Vizianagaram on Wednesday.
