Hyderabad: FIDE-rated player Sree Shaunak Chanda of Hyderabad won the 11th One-day rapid prize money chess tournament at RACE Chess Academy here with six points from six rounds.

Karthik Sai was second with 5.5 points. Mehta Jwalin got third place with five points.


Final placings: Open category: 1. Sree Shaunak Chanda, 2. C Karthik Sai 3. Mehta Jwalin, 4. Nithik Reddy Bhavanam, 5. S Sri Charan.

Special prizes: Best woman player: 1. Saranya Devi 2. Yashvi Jain.
Best veteran: 1. GV Srinivas Rao, 2. PVV Satyanarayana Murthy.
Boys: Under-7: 1. Akshat Chowhan, 2. Ayansh Ved.

Under-9: 1. T Sreyansh, 2. C. Siddharth.
Under-11: 1. Joel, 2. Vihaan Datta.

Under-13: 1. Kenith Urla, 2. Indra Reddy.
Girls: Under-7: 1. G Hayati, 2. Shaik Shazwa.

Hitesh Dolwani clinches title 

Hitesh Dolwani of Telangana won the UTT Para Senior national table tennis championship men’s singles title in the Class 10 category in Indore.

Dolwani defeated Vishal Tambe of Maharashtra 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 11-5 in the final.

Earlier, Dolwani scored an 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7 win against Dibrojit of Assam in the semifinal and notched up an 11-5, 11-6, 11-8 win against Chetan of Goa in the quarterfinal.

The result: Final: Hitesh Dolwani (TG) bt Vishal Tambe (Maha) 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 11-5.

Akhil bags gold in South Zone archery

N Akhil bagged a gold in the recurve category of the South Zone national archery championship, Puducherry.

M Venkatesh, also of Telangana, settled for silver in the boys’ section.

N Shinvitha, another archer from Telangana, bagged a bronze in the girls’ section in the recurve category.

The other medallists from Telangana included N Vishnuvardhan and Manasa Nayana, who won a bronze each.

K Sandeep Kumar (126, 61b, 5×4, 6×6) scored a match-winning century for NFC against LIC in the HCA D-Division Institution one-day league cricket championship here.
The scores: D-Division Institution one-day league: BHEL 181/4 in 20 overs (Ajay Sakpal 30, M. Praveen Kumar 82 no, P. Parsharamulu 3/17) bt National Insurance 94 in 18.1 overs (Rathod Vijaya Kumar 3/19).

TGEB 201 in 24.5 overs (Md Abdul Rasheed 42, D. Kantha Reddy 75) bt IDL 53 in 14.1 overs (D. Kantha Reddy 4/11).

NFC 341/4 in 25 overs (G. Chalapathi Rao 63, K. Sandeep Kumar 126, C. Sivakrishna 67) bt LIC 80 in 17.3 overs (D. Gopikrishna 47, Santosh Kumar 3/17).

Vidyuth Soudha 45 in 19.1 overs (B. Ranjeet Kumar 64) lost to HMWS &SB 147/3 in 17.4 overs (S. Yadh Kumar 31, Ankit Bhatnagar 42 no, S. Mahesh Singh 42).

CBI 92 in 20 overs (V. Ananth Reddy 4/12) lost to TGCAB 93/1 in 10.5 overs (N. Venkata Adithya 41 no).
