Hyderabad: A spotted deer died after sustaining injuries while trying to escape from the street dogs in the Univeristy of Hyderabad campus early on Sunday morning.

This is the third deer to have lost life at the sprawling univeristy campus in the attacks by the street dogs in the last one week, according to the students.

UoH research scholar and wildlife activist Rohit Kumar Bondugula in a press statement said, “Today early morning two deer were chased by street dogs on the way towards shooting range near to A Hostel. One of the deer tried to jump the wall to escape and hit to the wall injuring its head. The other deer escaped to the wooded area in the campus.

Rohith said three spotted deer were killed in a week span by street dogs attack on the UoH campus.

“There is a serious threat to the wildlife on the campus. At this alarming rate, if such incidents happen, the campus will no longer have the wildlife,” he added.
