Hyderabad: SR Academy of Higher Education (SRAHE), Hyderabad, has been granted deemed-to-be university status by the Union Ministry of Education, A. Varada Reddy, chairman of SR Educational Academy and chancellor of SRAHE, said.

Located at Rampally Dayara in Keesara mandal of Medchal district, SRAHE is envisioned as a strategic contributor to India’s Vision 2047, with plans to become part of Hyderabad’s deep-tech and life-sciences ecosystem, he said.

Speaking at a media briefing in Hyderabad, Varada Reddy described the development as a significant milestone, saying the institution would focus on future challenges through an interdisciplinary approach. Its proposed model would bring together disciplines such as engineering, healthcare, computer science and heritage preservation.

The university aims to function as an applied innovation hub connected to Hyderabad’s existing infrastructure. Artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging digital technologies would underpin its multidisciplinary approach, linking education with national priorities and societal needs, he said.

The curriculum is planned to cover strategic areas such as semiconductor design, quantum computing, AI, digital twins and advanced robotics, aligning with national initiatives including the India Semiconductor Mission and the National Quantum Mission.

The university aims to generate patents, incubate deep-tech start-ups and develop locally relevant hardware solutions, rather than focus solely on awarding degrees. It also plans to introduce programmes integrating allied health sciences with AI-driven diagnostics, bioinformatics and robotic surgery training, Varada Reddy said.

SRAHE will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, business and management. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students are expected to combine classroom learning with industry projects, internships and entrepreneurship opportunities.

SRAHE is the latest institution established by SR Educational Academy, which has set up more than 200 educational institutions across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka over the past five decades, Varada Reddy said.

SR University, Warangal, Vice-Chancellor Deepak Garg and others were present at the briefing, according to a press release.
