SR University welcomes new batch of students at orientation programme

SR University conducted an orientation programme for its new batch of first-year engineering students, attended by more than 5,000 students and parents. University officials highlighted academic excellence, global rankings, placements, innovation, and encouraged students to embrace emerging technologies and lifelong learning

Warangal: SR University, Warangal, conducted an orientation programme to welcome the new batch of first-year engineering students, marking the beginning of their academic journey at the university.

More than 5,000 students and parents participated in the programme held on Monday. The new cohort includes students from all districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, more than 20 States across India, and several countries abroad.

Addressing the gathering, SRU Chancellor and Chairman of the SR Educational Society A Varada Reddy said university education was crucial in shaping a student’s future, career and life. He urged students to make the best use of their time at the university with discipline, punctuality and active participation in academic activities.

Highlighting the need to adapt to a rapidly changing world, he advised students to remain updated with emerging technologies and continuously develop their skills to meet the evolving demands of the professional world.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Deepak Garg encouraged students to move beyond their comfort zones, explore new avenues and enter their growth zones. He stressed the importance of active classroom interaction, asking questions, engaging with faculty and learning from peers.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof V Mahesh said the university was consistently ranked among India’s top 100 engineering institutions in the NIRF Rankings and in the 801-1000 band globally. He added that the university was ranked 28th in India in the THE World University Rankings 2026. He also said SR Innovation Exchange (SRiX) had incubated more than 170 startups.

Dean (Operations and Growth) Prof R Archana Reddy said the 2026 graduating batch secured more than 1,500 internships and 1,530 placement offers, including the highest package of Rs 44 LPA from Amazon. The university also achieved 100 per cent placements in Agriculture.

Students of the 2027 graduating batch have already secured internships with ServiceNow and Agoda, with stipends of up to Rs 89,000. The induction programme is scheduled from July 28 to 31, she added.
