Hyderabad: It is a simple case of a die-hard fan extending his passion towards an IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, to the next level!
For, the 26-year-old Kandukuri Dharma Rakshith, founder of the Orange Army Fan Club, the official fan club of SRH, has now come up with a massive tattoo of the SRH logo on his arm of the former champions.
Inspiration for this tattoo? “From 2013 to 2026, my journey with SRH has been long-lasting. I have never missed a single SRH match in the IPL, and I even traveled to South Africa this year to support our extended team. SRH has become an inseparable part of my life. To honor this 13-year journey and emotional connection, I decided to get a tattoo, a permanent memory of my passion and loyalty,” he revealed.
“Initially, my family was not supportive of the idea of getting a tattoo. However, during this IPL season, they understood my deep connection with the team and gave me their approval. For me, this moment felt like a reminder that when your passion is genuine, even your dreams eventually find acceptance,” he said.
“I have been supporting Sunrisers Hyderabad right from 2013. My journey began when my father took me to an SRH vs KKR match at Uppal Stadium. It was my first-ever live match experience, and that day created a deep emotional connection with the team. From that moment, I decided to support SRH, as it represents my home city, Hyderabad,” he says in a chat on Thursday
“This tattoo was done by Rahul of Body Inked Tattoo Studio based in Habsiguda in the City and its size is 9 x 4 inches and it took him six hours to come up with this creation,” says Rakshith.
“The day I shared my tattoo video, the official Sunrisers Hyderabad social media account reposted it on their story. Several players noticed and appreciated it. I also had the opportunity to personally show my tattoo to Kavya Maran madam, who appreciated it. Additionally, members of the team’s staff acknowledged and praised the gesture, which made the moment even more special,” says the visibly delighted SHR fan.
“We want to convey a message to the team that we stand with them in both victories and defeats. They represent our city, our identity, and our spirit in the IPL. Let’s stand united and cheer for Sunrisers Hyderabad with everything we have,” Rakshith said..
How did the whole concept of fan club evolve? “Well, back in 2013, I observed strong fan communities like “Whistle Podu Army” for CSK and “Namma Team RCB.” However, there wasn’t a dedicated fan club for SRH. That inspired me to start one myself during the inaugural season,” said Rakshith.
“The journey began as a simple Facebook group, and today, Orange Army Fan Club has grown across multiple social media platforms, representing the voice and passion of SRH fans. We’ve built a community where passionate supporters come together — especially during home games, where we gather in the West Stand at Uppal Stadium to cheer for our team,” he said.
But, why SRH? “For me, SRH is not just a cricket team it is an emotion. I have always felt a strong personal connection with the team. The name “Hyderabad” itself carries legacy, culture, and pride. While many of my friends chose teams based on their favourite players, I chose to stand by my city first,” Rakshith said.
“My biggest inspiration has always been my father. From day one, he told me – This is our team, and we must always stand by it. That belief has stayed with me ever since. There is no greater motivation than the values passed down by family,”he said.
