Nirmal: The procession or Shobhayatra of deities of Lord Rama and Seetha went off peacefully in communally sensitive Bhainsa on Sunday. The procession was a part of Sri Ram Navami festival.

Adilabad Member of Parliament Soyam Bapu Rao launched the procession, which originated at Puranabajar at 10 am and ended at Ramleela maidan by 4 pm, winding through narrow lanes of the town. A large number of devotees and followers of Hindu faith took part in the event with much gaiety. They raised slogans, hailing Lord Rama and Seetha during the procession.

Bhainsa ASP Kiran Khare said that the procession passed off peacefully within the time given for conduct of the event. People from all sections extended their cooperation to the police, he stated. He added that police pickets would continue to be posted in the town and policemen were going to be deployed till Monday morning.

Earlier, security arrangements were stepped for preventing untoward incidents in view of the procession up in the town. Around 300 policemen including an Additional SP rank officer, four inspectors, 15 Sub-Inspectors, constable and home guards drawn from several police stations of erstwhile Adilabad district and II Battalion of Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) and special parties from Kumram Bheem Asifabad district would be deployed in the town.

Ten police pickets were posted in problematic places in the town and policemen covered important Masjids in the town. Similarly, a command control centre was set up to monitor the situation through CCTV cameras and to keep a tab on trouble-makers. Two drone cameras were used for the surveillance and no permission was given for the public addressing system during the procession.
