Hyderabad: Pediatricians from Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Kondapur on Friday announced that they have successfully treated and discharged an extremely premature baby boy born at just 28 weeks (7 months) of gestation.
The baby was born with a low birth weight of 900 grams and transported to Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals through a specialized neonatal transport system, ensuring continuity of critical care.
The premature baby was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and received treatment for 60-days. In the NICU, due to respiratory immaturity commonly seen in extreme prematurity, the newborn initially required ventilator support, followed by gradual weaning under continuous monitoring.
With sustained clinical improvement, the baby was stabilized and discharged without major complications, weighing 2 kilograms at the time of discharge, Neonatologists and Pediatricians, Dr J Subhash Chakravarthy and Dr S L Narasimha Reddy, said.
