Sridhar Babu defends Revanth Reddy over Hitler remarks

IT Minister D Sridhar Babu defended Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's remarks on Adolf Hitler, accusing BRS leaders of misrepresenting them. He said the reference related only to administrative decisiveness and reiterated that Congress does not support fascist ideology.

Hyderabad: IT Minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday defended Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks on Adolf Hitler and accused BRS leaders of indulging in cheap politics by taking his comments out of context.

BRS lacked the intellectual maturity to understand the administrative philosophy and governance approach that the Chief Minister was discussing, he said while addressing mediapersons.


The Minister alleged that some BRS leaders had selectively picked a single word from Revanth Reddy’s speech at The Hindu Conclave in Bengaluru without considering the broader context of his remarks. He said the Chief Minister’s reference to Hitler was limited to administrative decisiveness and speed of execution, and had nothing to do with endorsing his ideology or actions.

According to him, the reference was made only to underline the determination required to protect Hyderabad’s lakes and ponds from encroachments. “Congress has never supported and will never support Hitler’s cruelty or fascist ideology,” Sridhar Babu said.

Defending the functioning of HYDRAA, he said the agency was operating strictly within the framework of the law. Unlike in the past, it was not shielding encroachers or working in collusion with them, he added. He said this change was necessary for Telangana and was being appreciated by intellectuals and citizens alike.
