Hyderabad: Residents of Srinagar Colony, in the heart of the city, are grappling with a severe sewage overflow problem. The overflow has led to unsanitary conditions, posing health risks to the community.

For the past week, residents have been suffering due to overflowing sewage water. Many have officially lodged complaints with municipal officials. Yet, authorities from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) have not taken action.

The problem surfaced a week ago, and neither GHMC nor HMWSSB took the initiative to resolve the sewage system issues in Srinagar Colony. Residents are unable to bear the stench caused by the heavy volume of sewage water stagnating on the roads.

Civic body authorities have been criticised for their inaction despite numerous complaints. Residents, frustrated with the apathy of officials, expressed anguish over the potential health hazards associated with the ongoing overflow.

“The situation has become unbearable,” said Rajesh Kumar, a resident. “The sewage overflows onto the streets, making it difficult for us to carry out our daily activities,” he added.

“Immediate action is required to address the sewage problem in Srinagar Colony to safeguard the health and well-being of its residents,” a local businessman remarked.
