Srinivas Goud says the illegal construction will deny TS its rightful share of Krishna River water and turn the Palamuru region into a dessert
Hyderabad: Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud on Monday strongly condemned the actions of the Andhra Pradesh government over illegal construction of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and increasing the height of Pothireddypadu project. He said such actions would deny the rightful share of water for Telangana State in Krishna River and turn the Palamuru region into a dessert.
Speaking to mediapersons at TRS Legislative Party office here, Srinivas Goud said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had always maintained cordial relations with the neighbouring States and even came to an understanding with Maharashtra over usage of Godavari River water.

Though the Chief Minister was extending a friendly hand, the Minister said, AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was trying to loot Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna River water. He ridiculed the statements of the AP Ministers that all the projects in that State were being constructed as per norms.
“The AP Chief Minister assured the Apex Council on inter-State water disputes that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation scheme will not be taken up until the water is allocated afresh. But now, they are ignoring the directions of the National Green Tribunal as well as the Supreme Court,” the Minister said.
He urged the Andhra Pradesh government to stop all illegal construction of projects immediately, failing which the Telangana State will take appropriate action. He reminded that Telangana was an upper reparian State and Andhra Pradesh will not get any water, if the former too decides to construct illegal projects.
