Srinivas settles for silver in men’s singles of World Cup Carrom championship

Hyderabad: Former World champion, K Srinivas of Telangana, settled for a silver in the men’s singles of the seventh World Cup Carrom Championship in Male (Maldives).

Srinivas, who is with the ONGC, was beaten by his teammate Prashanth More 5-25, 25-11, 25-18 in the final.


The Hyderabadi had the satisfaction of winning two gold in the team championship and men’s doubles and a bronze medal in the Swiss League.

India dominated the World Cup, winning seven gold, four silver and three bronze for a total of 14 medals, followed by Sri Lanka with one silver and a bronze and Bangladesh with one silver and a bronze.

Final placings: Swiss League: 1. Abdul Asif (Ind), 2. Hafizur-ur-Rahman (Bangladesh), 3. K Srinivas (India).

Men singles: 1. Prashanth More, 2. K Srinivas, 3. Abhijith Tripankar.

Men’s doubles: 1. K Srinivas & Abhijith Tripankar, 2. Prashanth More & Sandeep Dive, 3. Lenus Paul & T Ramandeep (Singapore).
Men’s team event: 1. India, 2. Sri Lanka, 3. Bangladesh.
Women singles: L. Keerthana, 2. Kajal Kumari, 3. Khazima.
Women’s doubles: 1. L Keerthana & Kajal Kumari, 2. Khazima & V. Mithra, 3. Preeti Jakhotia & Tejasvi Duduka (US).

Women’s team event: 1 India, 2. Maldives, 3. Sri Lanka.
