Warangal: SR University (SRU), in collaboration with India’s leading design college, Hamstech, inaugurated the SRU School of Design at the university’s 150-acre campus in Warangal on Saturday. It is said to be the second such institute in Telangana after Hyderabad.

National award-winning fashion designer Neeta Lulla attended the event as the celebrity mentor and said design education must evolve with the industry, prepare students to think creatively, innovate fearlessly and build meaningful careers.

The creative industry offers limitless possibilities for those willing to learn and grow, she said, adding that she was excited to mentor the students of the SRU School of Design and contribute to shaping future creative leaders.

SR University Chancellor A Varada Reddy said the institute was committed to empowering young minds through quality education that meets the needs of future industries. The SRU School of Design reflects the university’s vision of expanding opportunities in emerging fields and nurturing talent beyond conventional disciplines.

The collaboration would inspire students to pursue their creative aspirations and contribute meaningfully to the design and innovation ecosystem, both nationally and globally, he noted.

Hamstech Group of Companies CEO Ajita Yogesh said Hamstech would bring its more than 30-year legacy of creative education to the SRU campus to help students gain access to industry-driven learning, expert mentorship and global opportunities to thrive in the creative economy, whether they choose high-growth careers or entrepreneurial paths.

SRU Vice Chancellor Prof. Deepak Garg stated that the launch of the SRU School of Design marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey. SRU’s strong academic foundation and Hamstech’s industry expertise would create an ecosystem where creativity, innovation and practical learning converge to help students excel in the rapidly evolving creative economy.

An impressive fashion show featuring collections designed by Hamstech fashion students under the mentorship of Neeta Lulla was presented. Students and parents interacted with Neeta Lulla and faculty members, gaining valuable insights into the fast-growing design and creative sector.
