St Francis boys crush rovers 61-34 in basketball league
St Francis Boys defeated Rovers 61-34 in the Hyderabad basketball league, with Jackson scoring 26 points. Titans and Osmania Medical College also registered big wins against Rahimpura Playgrounds and KVBR All Star
Hyderabad: St Francis Boys scored an emphatic 61-34 win over Rovers after leading 24-19 at half-time in the Annual League Basketball Championship conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association at YMCA Secunderabad.
In the first quarter, Rovers, aided by four 3-pointers, kept pace with St Francis, who mainly scored through drive-ins by Jackson, supported well by Ajaz, as Rovers took a 15-14 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, St Francis Boys tightened their defence and quickly took the lead. At half-time, they were comfortably placed 24-19. After the change of ends, St Francis consolidated their lead, scoring 13 points each in the third and fourth quarters to take the match 61-34.
Jackson (26 points), Nitish (16 points) and Peter (8 points) played well for St Francis. Mahesh (12 points), Nithin (6 points) and Ganesh (6 points) impressed for Rovers.
In other matches, Titans outplayed Rahimpura Playgrounds 57-29 after leading 39-13 at half-time. Osmania Medical College breezed past KVBR All Star 76-16 after leading 52-8 at half-time.
