Peddapalli: Senior BRS leader and former Minister Koppula Eshwar alleged that standing crops were withering in Dharmapuri constituency due to negligence of the Congress government. Eshwar along with farmers from surrounding villages examined the abruptly stalled works of a link canal constructed as part of Nandi reservoir near Nandi Medaram of Dharmaram mandal on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed that in order to supply water to tail-end lands in Velgatoor mandal from Mallapur mandal, the link canal was sanctioned three years ago. Rs.13 crore is the worth of the project, as part of which work on a two kilometre link canal was taken up. Ninety percent of the works were already completed. The remaining 10 percent works were kept pending by the Congress government, he said.
Local MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar was not showing interest to complete canal works. If Laxman Kumar was sincere, he should complete pending canal works, the BRS leader said, also demanding the government to complete the Rollavagu project in Sarangapur mandal.
The Congress government failed to supply irrigation water to the agriculture sector.
