Hyderabad: Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy accused both TRS and BJP governments at the State and Centre of playing double game with an eye on the next general elections and at the cost of farmers’ welfare.
Both the State and Central governments were equally responsible for the farmers’ plight, especially when it comes to paddy procurement in Telangana, he said, addressing a press conference here on Monday.
“During the Congress regime, paddy procurement was not an issue at all. But both TRS and BJP parties are making it an issue with an eye on next elections,” he alleged. The TRS extended support to BJP on several occasions, including Presidential elections, he said, adding: “I wonder what is stopping TRS leaders from exerting pressure on the Centre to address the paddy procurement issue.”
Coming as it does on a day when TRS leaders, workers and farmers across the State came out on to the streets to protest against the Centre’s anti-farmer policies, the Congress MLA’s accusations do appear off the track.
