Telangana government to reorganise Municipal Administration and Urban Development

State Government has decided to reorganise the MAUD department into Metropolitan Area and Urban Development department and Municipal Administration department

Hyderabad: The State Government has decided to reorganise the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department into Metropolitan Area and Urban Development department and Municipal Administration department.

To this effect, the government issued GOMs 107 on Monday, dividing the MAUD department into two departments. Accordingly, the HMDA, Town and Country Planning, all Municipal Corporations and Municipalities within Outer Ring Road (ORR), including Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have been brought under the purview of Metropolitan Area and Urban Development department.


Apart, all urban utilities within HMDA limits, including HMWSSB, Musi River Front Development Corporation, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, HRDCL, HGCL, FCDA and HYDRAA etc have also been included in the above department’s limits. Similarly, Public Health Engineering (inside ORR limits and cadre control) and RERA and RERA Appellate Tribunal have also been brought under Metropolitan Area and Urban Development department.

On the other hand, all Municipalities and Municipal corporations outside ORR, public health engineering (outside ORR), Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation, NIUM, MEPMA and Municipal services cadre control have been entrusted with Municipal Administration department.

According to officials, the reorganization of MAUD was done to ensure smooth administration and effective use of available resources, including manpower.
