Hyderabad: State government constituted a seven-member State-level Committee on Telangana Haritha Nidhi with Forest Minister as its Chairman to effectively manage the fund and implement plantation activities.

Haritha Haram has been launched by Telangana Government in 2015 with a goal of raising a plantation of 230 crores. As on November, 2021 the plantation achievement has been 239.441 crores. With an aim to enhance the massive plantation activity and to provide sustainability in the long run, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on October 1, 2021 had announced Telangana Haritha Nidhi” a dedicated Green Fund, in the Assembly.

“Telangana Haritha Nidhi” would receive contributions from different sources, including public representatives, Government employees and other sections of the society, besides a predefined portion of taxes, fees and other levies that the State Government imposes.

Telangana Haritha Nidhi State Level Committee, includes Forest Minister as Chairperson, Special Chief Secretary (Forest Department) – Vice Chairperson, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (HoFF) – Convener, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (SF) –Member, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (CAMPA) –Member, Managing Director, TS Forest Development Corporation – Member and Finance Department (Secretary)- Member.

The funds will be utilized for establishment of nurseries, raising of plantations, watering, watch and ward (need based) and protection of plantation, capacity building, evaluation, communication, education, awareness activities and exposure visits. The Committee will be publishing its Annual report every year.
