Hyderabad: Amid growing demands from students and opposition parties to clear pending fee reimbursement dues, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the State government requires between Rs 2,200 crore and Rs 2,400 crore every year to meet fee reimbursement commitments.

He said the government had devised a mechanism to ensure timely payments and assured that fee reimbursement would no longer face delays in the future.

“From now on, fee reimbursement for a particular academic year will be paid in full during the same academic year, with funds deposited in advance directly into bank accounts,” Revanth Reddy told mediapersons in New Delhi.

The Chief Minister said a Vigilance and Enforcement probe was underway against institutions that allegedly claimed fee reimbursement by submitting inflated or fabricated figures despite lacking adequate infrastructure and facilities.

He said dues would be released only to institutions that were found to be genuine and compliant with the prescribed norms.

Revanth Reddy also accused the BRS of trying to create a false impression that his government was responsible for withholding fee reimbursement payments. He said arrears inherited from the previous government had placed a financial burden on the State, adding that efforts were underway to resolve all pending issues.
