Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said the Telangana government took stringent measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the State, besides extending free medical treatment to those tested positive.
She cited the National Economic Survey report which has stated that the Telangana stood at top in the country in curtailing the spread of the pandemic, deaths due to the virus, fast economic recovery and for conducting greater number of tests.
“Telangana recorded 0.54 per cent average death rate against national average of 1.4 per cent due to Covid. The percentage of people who recovered from COVID-19 in the country is 97.2 per cent as against 98.88 per cent in Telangana State,” the Governor said. She lauded the tireless services of all the frontline warriors including the medical and police personnel as well as sanitation workers, during the pandemic
The Governor stated that the vaccination programme was being conducted successfully on priority basis where the entire medical fraternity and frontline workers have been successfully vaccinated. While the vaccination programme is in progress for those who crossed 60 years of age and also those suffering from comorbidities, the State government had set up around 1,200 vaccination centres to administer the vaccine to 50 lakh people in the State.
