Suryapet: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao achieved Statehood for Telangana using the Gandhian principle of peaceful and prolonged movement, Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy said on Tuesday.

Speaking after hoisting the party flag at his residence in Suryapet on the occasion of TRS formation day, he said that the Chief Minister did not give any scope for violence while leading the movement, and achieved Statehood, the dream of the people of Telangana. “The movement once again highlighted the potential of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles,” he said, adding that KCR also utilized the provision incorporated in the Constitution by Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Stating that TRS led the movement and succeeded in its goal, Jagadish Reddy said that in the last 20 years, TRS had shown the country what people-centric politics can achieve and also protect the rights of the people. “After State formation, KCR focused on putting an end to the injustice meted out to Telangana on all fronts in united Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Reminding that erstwhile Nalgonda district struggled for drinking water in summer during united Andhra Pradesh, he reminded that the irrigation tanks in the district were now bemiring with water and every village was getting supply of safe drinking water every day under Mission Bhagiratha. The farmers were also getting irrigation facility for two crops in the district, he observed. Hence, erstwhile Nalgonda district stood in first place in paddy production in the State and it was piece of example for the achievements of the TRS government in the last six years, he added.

He reminded that the Chief Minister has made Telangana as a role model to the country in the implementation of welfare schemes and development projects. TRS has a special recognition in the politics in the country due to the effective leadership of the Chief Minister. The TRS has opened up a new scenario of the people making queues for membership of a political party. The people were voluntarily taking membership of the TRS admired by welfare schemes and development programs taken up by the Chief Minister.

Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Suryapet Municipal Chairperson Perumalla Annapurnamma and others were also present.
