Stern action against hospitals fleecing patients: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: The Central and State governments will take stern action against hospitals that are fleecing Covid patients in the name of treatment, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said here on Thursday. Speaking to media persons after inspecting Covid ICU ward at NIMS, Panjagutta, Kishan Reddy said India would produce 259 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines by the end of 2021.
“The Centre is making all efforts to ramp up vaccine production in the country, and by December, the monthly production of Covid vaccines will go up to 59 crore doses,” he said. Reddy appealed to the media and general public to come together in fighting Covid. “It’s time to work together. We need to build confidence among the affected”, he said.
At NIMS, he enquired about the facilities and treatment being provided to Covid patients and reviewed availability of beds and ventilators, including the ones provided under PM-CARES, oxygen and medicine supplies with the hospital administration.
He earlier inspected Mucormycosis (black fungus) dedicated ENT Hospital at King Koti here. During the inspection, he interacted with the patients and took stock of the facilities being provided for their speedy recovery.
