Hyderabad: Demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the School Teachers’ Federation of India (STFI) organised a protest rally from Domalguda to Dharna Chowk here on Saturday. Protesters accused Kumar of removing 13 crore voters through his unilateral decisions.
Speaking at the rally, STFI general secretary Chava Ravi criticized the CEC appointment process, describing it as a conspiracy to favour the ruling party by removing the Chief Justice of India from the selection committee and including a Union Minister instead.
Ravi alleged that Kumar, appointed under these circumstances, was attempting to prove his loyalty to the ruling dispensation. He called for the CEC’s resignation and urged people to safeguard democracy and the Indian Constitution.
STFI treasurer TKA Shafi, vice-president Mayil and Venkateswarlu, secretaries Mayavan and Aruna Kumari, TSUTF general secretary A Venkat; and representatives from various states participated in the rally.
