Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao asked Congress leaders to visit Siddipet district to see what impact the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) had on agriculture rather than just repeatedly saying that KLIS had collapsed.

Speaking after releasing water into a distributory canal of Ranganayaka Sagar at Vitalapur in Chinnakodur mandal on Wednesday, Rao said the Pedddavagu project in Khammam, Sunkishala in Nalgonda, Vattem pump house in Mahabubnagar and SLBC tunnel in Nagarkurnool collapsed during the 14-month rule of the Congress. However, the Congress was trying to deny water supply just to blame the BRS as one pillar of Medigadda barrage had sunk.

“Are Ananthagiri, Ranganayaka Sagar, Kondapochamma and Mallanna Sagar projects, which were providing irrigation water to lakhs of acres, not part of KLIS?” he asked, stating that these projects had changed the face of agriculture in Siddipet, Medak and Yadadri-Bhongir districts. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was promising to get Godavari water to Musi. “Where will he get the water from, if Mallanna Sagar was not constructed by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao?” he asked, demanding that the Congress stop false propaganda and take up the Medigadda pillar repair works.
