Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao challenged the BJP leaders to stop hate-mongering politics and compete with TRS in terms of development. He said that loose talk, histrionics or obstructing development was not politics and would do no good for people of the State.

Addressing the gathering after laying foundation stone for various development works in Badangpet Municipal Corporation here on Saturday, Rama Rao reminded that the Reserve Bank of India declared Telangana as fourth largest economic contributor to the country among the States. “But unfortunately, rather than supporting and funding such a vibrant State, the BJP government at the Centre is showing discrimination towards us,” he said.

Hyderabad was battered with heavy rains during October 2020, with several colonies getting flooded. Though the State government urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide flood relief to restore normalcy in the battered city, the Minister said there has been no response even after 16-17 months. However, he pointed out that the Prime Minister rushed to Gujarat in a special helicopter when floods hit the State and immediately sanction flood relief of Rs 1,000 crore.

Rama Rao stated that in the last seven years, the Narendra Modi government sanctioned as many as 7 IITs, 7 IIMs, 2 IISERs and 157 medical colleges across the country, but none of them including Navodaya Vidyalayas were granted to Telangana. “Politics and power are given by people. They are not permanent and people are observing what those in power were doing for them,” he said.

The Minister demanded the BJP leadership to explain what they have done for people of Telangana. He said the TRS government laid foundation stones to projects worth Rs 371 crore on a single day in Badangpet Municipal Corporation and dared the BJP leaders to explain the amount of funds sanctioned by the Central government to Badangpet Municipal Corporation for its development.

“We are spending Rs 371 crore for Badangpet Municipal Corporation, I dare you to sanction Rs 1,000 crore package for Maheshwaram Assembly constituency. We are giving Rs 2,000 pension in Telangana, but the BJP-ruled Gujarat is still paying pension of Rs 500. If you are capable, get an additional pension of Rs 2,000 pension for Telangana,” he challenged. He declared that none can stop development of Telangana State with their religious, divisive and hate-mongering politics.
