Hyderabad: Demanding that the Central government withdraw its plans to auction coal blocks in Singareni Collieries, TRS MPs and MLAs wanted the State BJP leaders to raise the issue in Parliament and support the miners.

State BJP leaders, especially MPs Bandi Sanjay and D Arvind, should speak to miners and take up their issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, since there were many Singareni workers’ families in Huzurabad, the newly elected BJP MLA Eatala Rajender should give them a assurance of their welfare, MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy told mediapersons here on Thursday.

“When coal blocks in Rajasthan and Gujarat are allocated to respective States, why is the Central government not considering Telangana’s appeal to allocate the blocks to the State?” he asked.

Chevella MP Ranjtih Reddy said Singareni was fast expanding and it was not wise to initiate privatization process of the company. The Centre was opposing all the appeals being made by Telangana government. Privatisation of Singareni Collieries was not just confined to Telangana but would have larger impact on many aspects, especially ensuring supply of sufficient coal, he pointed out. “TRS is opposing privatization of coal blocks and will fight against these plans with other parties who share similar views,” said Ranjith Reddy.

TRS MP Venkatesh Nethakani and party General Secretary M Srinivas Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
