Stree Nidhi managing director Vidyasagar Reddy held a video conference with Telangana State Dairy Development Corporation Federation managing director Srinivas Rao, Karimnagar Dairy managing director P Shankar Reddy and advisor V Hanumantha Reddy, Mulkanoor Dairy representative Bhaskar Reddy, Mother Dairy representative Ramesh and others on Tuesday to review the implementation of the ambitious financing scheme of women SHGs in the State.
Vidyasagar Reddy was all praise for Karimnagar Dairy for purchasing milch animals from outside the State and added that they would adopt the formula implemented by the Karimnagar Dairy for purchase and grounding of milching animals. He informed the representatives of various dairies to identify the SHG beneficiaries along the milk routes of the concerned bulk milk cooling units and start grounding from August month onwards.
Stree Nidhi would provide financial assistance of Rs 82,000 for the purchase of each milch animal and provide insurance coverage for the animal for a period of four years from the date of purchase including risk in transit of the animal from other states. The marketing of milk produced by the women SHGs would be done with the cooperative dairies through Memorandum of Understandings.
Stree Nidhi MD also informed the participants in the meeting to identify the beneficiaries and organise orientation programmes to educate the womenfolk about the importance of dairy units, animal health, loaning, tagging of animals for securing insurance coverage. He said that they had taken up grounding of one lakh milk animals only for service and empowerment of poor women.
“We are not doing any business by extending financial assistance for the purchase of milch animals and there is no subsidy involved in this project. But our motto is to increase milk production and provide economic activities to women SHGs,” he stated.
