Hyderabad: As part of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), a total of 1,620 defacement cases, including political parties’ posters, banners, and wall writings, have been recorded so far. Of these, 1,097 cases were on public property and 523 on private property in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency by-poll, according to an official statement.
On Wednesday, the District Election Officer, RV Karnan, released cumulative data on MCC defacement cases. The GHMC launched an enforcement drive on October 6, soon after the Election Commission of India announced the election schedule for the by-poll, and the MCC came into force.
District Election Officer Hyderabad, RV Karnan, said that flying squads and static surveillance teams were deployed across the constituency for swift response and strict enforcement. “Any political publicity, campaign materials, or wall writings on public and private premises must adhere to MCC guidelines and only be displayed with proper prior approval from the Election Commission,” RV Karnan said in the official statement.
