Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In an alleged ragging incident, a student was forced to swallow a pen cap after being blindfolded by her classmates at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential School (MJPRS) in Kagaznagar town on Tuesday.
Parents alleged that Ushan Shruthi, a Class X student, was subjected to harassment by four students of the school a few days ago. They claimed that Shruthi was blindfolded and her legs were held tightly before being compelled to swallow a pen cap and drink water. The incident came to light after she fell ill.
Other students alerted the girl’s parents, who hail from Ainam village in Dahegaon mandal. The student was later admitted to a hospital in Mancherial. Medical investigations revealed that she had a pen cap in her stomach, shocking her parents. The cap was removed from her stomach and the student’s condition was reported to be stable.
The parents expressed anger against the officials. Ramesh, father of the student, demanded stern action against the students responsible for the alleged ragging. He alleged that negligence by the officials in administering the school resulted in the incident. He lodged a complaint with the police seeking justice. The incident created a flutter in the district.
