Nirmal: Around 200 girl students of a Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Residential School walked from Mavala to Adilabad district centre, alleging they were not provided with quality food and water and were facing inconvenience due to unhygienic premises, on Saturday. They covered a distance of about five kilometers, facing scorching heat wave conditions. The students left for Adilabad town at 3 pm and reached the conference hall of Zilla Parishad at 5 pm. They poured out their woes to Additional Collector Rizwan Shaik. One of the students said that they were forced to take baths every three days following inadequate supply of water to the school. They alleged that the principal of the school and vice-principal were harassing the students for being late and poor performance in academics. They added that they were undergoing nightmarish experiences for studying in the institution. The Additional Collector assured to take steps to address major challenges of the school, besides taking action against the principal and vice-principal for showing negligence in administration of the institution and for harassing the pupils, by carrying out an inquiry into allegations.
