Hyderabad: Intense thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorms lashed multiple locations in Secunderabad on Thursday afternoon. Busy road traffic across Secunderabad came to a grinding halt as the intense spell of rain, thunder and hail lasted for nearly an hour.
The sudden downpour provided much-needed respite from the sweltering summer heat, although the abrupt storm caught commuters off guard, forcing them to seek shelter under trees and in commercial complexes.
Several regions including Neredmet, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Alwal, Yapral, Cherlapally and Dammaiguda witnessed severe weather. Parts of Secunderabad such as Trimulgherry, Uppal, Nagole, Musheerabad, Serilingampally and Tellapur also experienced significant thunderstorms and gusty winds. The intense activity and extensive cloud cover brought down maximum temperatures considerably across the Secunderabad region.
Scattered intense thunderstorms were also reported across several regions in Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Siricilla, Karimnagar and Macherial districts on Thursday afternoon.
