Hyderabad: Unlike previous years, summer this season may not be too harsh in Telangana with temperatures likely to be near to normal.
According to summer forecast issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensity of summer is likely to be less in Telangana, when compared to coastal Andhra.
Though summer was too hot in the last few years, the conditions could be weaker this time, officials said.
K. Nagaratna, Head, Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, said the State will report heat waves and severe heat waves once in a while. “Telangana is in core heat wave zone of India. The season average maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal i.e, within -0.14 degrees and -0.06 degrees of climatological normals,” she said.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius on Monday, which is 2 degree Celsius above normal, while previous night witnessed a rise in temperatures with minimum temperature settling at 22.2 degree Celsius, three degrees above normal.
During the last 24 hours, highest temperature of 36.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Ameerpet, while BHEL registered minimum temperature of 18.5 degree Celsius.
