The widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall, however, effectively eliminated the rainfall deficit across Hyderabad and the districts in Telangana. Till last week, over 20 districts, including Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri, in Telangana had been struggling with deficient rainfall, but in just one week, all have now reached the normal range.

In fact, the state-wide average now has improved from a deficit to a normal rainfall range. As of Sunday, the actual rainfall received in Telangana this monsoon season is 336.0 mm against the normal of 334.0 mm, according to the latest monsoon 2025 data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

At present, only 5 districts, including Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalli and Jangaon, have received deficient rainfall. Meanwhile, four districts- Siddipet, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool-have received excess rainfall. The remaining 24 districts in Telangana are now in the normal rainfall category.

For the rest of the coming week, the Hyderabad MET department forecast has indicated light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in Telangana till this month-end. The IMD-Hyderabad has also issued a warning for thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds for all the districts of Telangana on Monday.

Strong and sustained winds up to 30 to 40 kmph are very likely to prevail at isolated places in districts of Telangana, the IMD Hyderabad forecast added.
