Hyderabad: For many women in the city, travelling to work before dawn, returning home late after night shifts or simply commuting alone has become a matter of growing concern. A series of reported sexual offence cases in the city over the past three weeks has once again brought women’s safety into sharp focus.

The recent cases, involving women and children from different backgrounds, have highlighted persistent concerns over safety in homes, workplaces, educational institutions and public spaces.

The incidents have also sparked debate over the need for stronger institutional safeguards, improved victim support systems and greater public awareness to prevent gender-based violence.

Meanwhile, women’s rights organisations and social activists have requested the State government to ensure speedy investigation and trial of sexual offence cases, strengthen counselling and rehabilitation services for survivors.

Hyderabad Police said efforts to curb crimes against women are being strengthened through SHE Teams, surveillance, special patrols and prompt action on complaints. Officials said every complaint received by SHE Teams was acted upon promptly and appropriate legal action was initiated wherever necessary.

Police have appealed to women facing harassment or abuse to come forward and report incidents immediately, assuring confidentiality and swift assistance.
