Siddipet: In a shocking incident, a gynaecologist at MCH (Maternity and Child Health) hospital in Siddipet had forgotten to remove a surgical mop placed inside a woman’s abdomen after performing delivery.
Doctor Sinduri, an associate professor at Government Medical College in Siddipet, performed the delivery to woman Nandini, a resident of Sutharipally in Ramayampet mandal, on April 14. Since then, Nandini had started suffering from serious pain in her abdomen and later visited a private hospital.
The doctors removed the mop after conducting a scan. Nandini along with her family members visited the Siddipet MCH on Saturday and picked up an argument with the doctor. They lodged a complaint with the hospital superintendent, who assured them of action after carrying out a departmental inquiry.
Responding to the complaint, Dr Sinduri said that she had placed the mop to stop excessive bleeding. However, the victim’s family said Nanidini did not visit the hospital for review again.
Swaroopa, Nandini’s mother, said that the doctor did not suggest they visit the hospital again. She lamented that it would have resulted in a disaster if there was any further delay in consulting another doctor. The departmental inquiry is underway.
