Surrogacy scam case: Doctor detained at Hyderabad Airport while trying to flee
Hyderabad police detained Dr Vidyulatha at RGIA while she attempted to flee to Visakhapatnam. She is accused of aiding the surrogacy scam linked to Universal Fertility Centre. The case has seen 12 arrests and 16 suspects so far.

Hyderabad: The immigration officials have detained a woman doctor, accused in the surrogacy scam, when she allegedly tried to flee at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Monday night.
The detained person, identified as Dr Vidyulatha, was also booked by the Gopalpuram police in connection with alleged irregularities at Universal Fertility Centre. A lookout circular was also issued by the police. The detained doctor was handed over to the investigation officials.
The following statements were collected from the prime suspect, Dr Namratha, and others – Kalyani and Dhanasri Santoshi, who are in police custody. A case was booked against Vidyulatha for aiding Namrata in this scam.
The investigation revealed that some people had their uteruses removed due to the treatment she provided. The police have been keeping an eye on Vidyulatha’s movements. It was found that she had come to the city on Monday on personal work.
In the evening, when she reached the airport to return to Visakhapatnam, the immigration authorities detained her and alerted the Gopalpuram police, who arrived and took her into custody. Meanwhile, the number of suspects has reached 16, while the number of those arrested has reached 12.
