Hyderabad: In a mask adherence study carried out by the Digital India Foundation, about 37 per cent were found unmasked in Hyderabad. The foundation surveyed several cities including Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Shimla, Pune, Jammu, etc.
The findings stated that 37.13 per cent of the population that was surveyed was not wearing masks at all, 17.10 per cent was wearing masks partially and only 45.76 per cent were wearing masks.
As per the report, properly masked referred to those wearing the mask covering both their nose and mouth.
According to the survey, only 28.45 per cent found fully masked in malls, while 66.67 per cent were found in parks and 70.83 per cent were found inside metro or local trains.
When asked about the reasons for not wearing masks, of the total, there was 30 per cent who gave miscellaneous reasons while the other 30 per cent said that they feel suffocated and irritated. Then, 40 per cent of people said that they still don’t think that Covid is a threat and also because they are vaccinated.
Telangana Government is strictly implementing the mask rule by imposing a penalty of Rs.1000 for those failing to wear masks. In Hyderabad, the higher-ups have instructed the field officers to visit the colonies, public places to create more awareness and take up enforcement of the face mask rule.
All the patrol cars and blue colts’ personnel were asked to visit colonies, roadside eateries where there is public gathering and create awareness. Similarly, wherever necessary the police are also booking cases.
