HYDERABAD: Mumbai Indians’ star batter Surya Kumar Yadav has been named ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the IPL after Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by six runs at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night.
Gujarat Titans’ pace bowler Prasidh Krishna got the ‘Purple Cap’ for being the leading wicket-taker with 25 wickets while his teammate Sai Sudharsan got the ‘Orange Cap’ for scoring most runs, 759. Sai Sudharsan also got the award for scoring most fours (88) in the season.
Kamindu Mendis of Sunrisers Hyderabad got the special award for the catch of the season for his stunning effort to send back Chennai Super Kings’ Dewald Brevis.
Lucknow Super Giants’ explosive batter Nicholas Pooraj got the special prize for hitting most sixes this season – 40.
Hyderabad’s Mohammed Siraj, who played for Gujarat Titans, got the prize for bowling the maximum number of dot balls in the IPL.
