Suspect in Madhapur hotel death case allegedly attempts suicide in Andhra Pradesh

Two days after a 29-year-old woman was found dead in a Madhapur hotel room, suspect Srinivasa Ravi Teja allegedly attempted suicide in Andhra Pradesh. He was shifted to KGH in Visakhapatnam as police continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Hyderabad: Two days after a 29-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an OYO hotel room in Madhapur, the suspect in the case, Srinivasa Ravi Teja, allegedly attempted suicide at his native village in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. He was shifted to the King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam.

Ravi Teja, a native of Edumetla Marripalem village in Parawada mandal of Anakapalli district, is suspected to have been in a relationship with the woman, Sharon Nikitha Topno, a native of Visakhapatnam.

The two had checked into Room No. 304 of a hotel at Siddiqui Nagar in Madhapur around 2 p.m. on Monday. On Tuesday morning, Ravi Teja alerted hotel staff after Sharon reportedly fell unconscious and shifted her to a private hospital in Kothaguda. She was declared dead at the hospital, following which Ravi Teja fled from the hospital.

The Madhapur police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the BNS and formed special teams to trace him. The investigation is being conducted from all possible angles, with CCTV footage, technical evidence and statements of relevant persons being examined.

The Clues team collected forensic evidence from the hotel room, where police noticed injuries on the woman’s face and head. Bloodstains were also found on the walls and bedsheet, while empty beer and whisky bottles were recovered from the room.

During the inquest, Sharon’s father told police that she and Ravi Teja had previously been in a relationship, but he was unaware of their subsequent developments. The exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem.
