Medak: In a shocking incident, a man smashed his six-month-old daughter to the floor by holding her by the legs at Achampet village in Narsapur mandal on Monday. The man, Prasanth, suspected his wife’s fidelity and alleged that he was not the biological father of the child.
Prasanth had married Indu a couple of years ago, but frequent quarrels and harassment forced her to leave for her parents’ home. She returned later after Prasanth assured her of better behaviour and promised to take care of her and the baby.
However, on Monday, he again picked up an argument and, in a fit of rage, assaulted the infant by smashing her to the floor. The child sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.
Narsapur police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
