Hyderabad: The Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan (RCHD), along with partner clubs launched Project Sumitra, aimed at encouraging and facilitating use of sustainable menstrual hygiene products, in Hyderabad on Sunday.
As part of the project Sumitra initiative, which was launched at Solitaire Global Schools, Attapur, and Sri Sai Janachaithanya Colony, near Sunrise Valley, Upparpally, the Rotary District 3150 will get two products, including re-usable and biodegradable cloth sanitary pads and sanitary cups manufactured.
The project aims to set up local production where local women will manufacture cloth pads and looks to ensure there is a drop in the supply chain costs that will make the products available at an affordable price. The initiative will also train, equip and deploy trained Self-Help Groups to teach, sell and distribute these products in local communities.
Senior office bearers of Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan (RCHD), Rotary International District 3150 and collaborating partners, including Bum Print Baby were present.
