Now there have been movies on everything, as thought filmmakers are running out of stories. From biopics to major events of sports, culture and what not. But Hyderabad-based filmmaker Manjula Suroju wanted to send out a ‘clean message’ that might be useful to people in a larger sense.
Her film Swachhalokam highlights the Swachha Bharat Mission, once a dream of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and it was restarted much later by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014. “Earlier, I’ve done a short film based on Swachh Bharat which stood a winner at NFDC Swachh Bharat Short Film Festival.
So I’ve thought why not a full-length feature film if it has the potential to send out a message and make people aware about changing the outlook of the country,” says Manjula. However, the movie doesn’t boast on a big star cast. “We want to introduce new and young actors. Senior awardwinning actor Radha Prashanthi and with a few other senior actors like Ashok Kumar and Satish Vemulawada, we are making it.
This film has four-multiple layers that are interlinked to the climax. This film is made in a way where every scene promotes the cleaning of our country and every character tries to connect with the audiences. It has a romantic tale, to make the story interesting,” said the director who is also a secondary school teacher by profession.
The lyrics of two songs were written by lyricist Sudhala Ashok Teja and two other songs were written by the great poet and lyricist Murali Dharmapuri. The background score is being composed by PJ Naidu. The movie Swachhalokam with the tagline ‘A step towards cleaner India’, is being produced under the banner Shiva Manjari Creations. Manjula has also a mythological film titled Bhagavath Ramanuja which is likely to be released soon.
