Hyderabad: The swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Sarpanches across Telangana has been postponed from December 20 to December 22 following representations from public representatives citing the absence of an auspicious muhurat.
According to officials, December 20 coincides with the new moon day, prompting elected representatives to request a change in the schedule for swearing-in. The Panchayat Raj department accepted the request and rescheduled the appointment date accordingly.
With the revised schedule, the first meeting of the respective gram panchayats where elections were recently held will now take place on December 22. Deputy Sarpanches will be elected on the same day.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Director G Srijana issued formal orders in this regard and instructed district and local authorities to make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the swearing-in and inaugural meetings.
