Hyderabad: Biryani continues to reign supreme in the hearts of Hyderabadis! In the year 2024, Hyderabadis ordered a staggering 1.57 crore biryanis, the annual food trends report of Swiggy released on Tuesday, said.
The annual food trend, ‘How India Swiggy’d indicated that 34 biryanis were ordered every minute in Hyderabad. Chicken biryani was the most sought after with 97.21 lakh plates ordered, translating to 21 chicken biryanis every minute through the year.
A Hyderabadi food lover spent Rs 18,840 to order 60 biryanis on one go and first-time Swiggy users embraced the dish by ordering 4,46,000 chicken biryanis in the year, the report said. During the T20 cricket World Cup, Hyderabad took its obsession to the next level, ordering 8,69,000 chicken biryanis.
The other favourites for foodies included a whopping Rs 30,563 spent on a pizza party. Hyderabad also ordered the highest chicken Shawarmas, followed closely by chicken rolls and chicken nuggets.
Dosa is staple for people during breakfast and Hyderabad also ranked first in the country for onion dosa consumption during breakfast. The non-onion version of dosa tallying up to 17.54 lakh orders continues to dominate early mornings, the press release said.
